$165,000 Litigated Settlement. Plaintiff, a dog trainer, was bitten by a pit bull and incurred less than $11,000 in medical bills for surgery and scarring on her leg. The defense insurance company initially denied the claim arguing that this case fell under the veterinarian rule and that the defendant was therefore not liable for the trainer’s injuries. After extensive discovery this was proven not to be the case and the matter was settled at mediation 1 month before trial.
